Stanley Collection Hotel Hegra Amsterdam

"I had a very average experience at Hotel Hegra. To start with the positives, the location is in a beautiful, quiet neighborhood along a canal and the hotel has been tastefully updated with clean and modern decor. The bed was also comfortable and the hotel staff did allow for early check-in (without access to the room) and luggage storage during the day. As far as the negatives go, 1) there is no staff available on-site after 6:00pm. This was a problem as 2 of 3 of the keys we were given did not work and the working key got locked inside the room where it was left to turn on the lights. We had to call and wait for someone from hotel staff to return to the hotel to find a solution. This unnecessarily wasted time during our visit. 2) There is nearly no sound barrier in the hotel rooms. We could easily hear what our neighbors were doing/saying, hotel staff from downstairs, and noise from the quiet street as well. 3) While it was nice to have luggage storage, there was no constant security of the storage (luggage not locked away) and was open and susceptible to robbery. It did not feel safe to leave belongings there as your luggage is just out in the open and not always attended. 4) Cleanliness was somewhat lacking as the trash was not taken out of our room before we checked-in. Overall, this is a decent hotel, but for the price paid, it was disappointing."

"Stayed for three nights on a trip. Stairs were super narrow and hard to get larger luggages up, and there are no staff present after 6pm or before 9am. Our flight arrived late at night so we had no help, and the self check-in had issues for us.\n\nRooms were super small, unlike most photos posted. All beds were twin beds, and we had two of them put next to each other to create a bigger one. Bathroom was probably about 8x2 ft, also super small with a tiny shower and sink. The outlets in our room were also mostly behind our pillows, which were pretty inconvenient. Lights were on the dimmer side in the room. Floor felt dirty, had to wear slippers that we brought on our own to feel comfortable. There weren’t many accommodations provided, just a water jug with free drinks provided in the lobby. Body and hand wash provided as well as towels, but no shampoo or conditioner. Room only had a tiny trash can in the bathroom. Overall there wasn’t a lot of space to put open luggages or store shoes. Otherwise, the beds were comfortable despite being small and living was bearable.\n\nLocation was one of the better parts of the stay, close to downtown and the canal as well.\n\nGenerally a decent stay but not worth the price. Had little to no interaction with staff/service so I cannot rate it."

"An annoying experience. First, the tap on the shower made an unbearable screeching sound anytime the handle wasn’t positioned perfectly or the when the shower wasn’t running. Second, after the first day, every keycard had deactivated and we had to use the card to get in and stuff every card in the holder so the lights would turn on, All of this for a pretty high price for a tiny room.\n\nOther than that, the location is nice and the general quality of the room is good too - decent beds, a few outlets, and little shelves with baskets under them."
