"When booking a hotel, you will face the classic dilemma: comfort or location? The more you pay, the better the balance between the two. A certain amount, will get you either more comfort farther from the city centre or less comfort in a prime location.\nThis hotel is a textbook example of budget accommodation in the heart of a busy tourist city. The location is absolutely excellent: nestled between Anne Frank House and the Dam square. For the price, the value you get in terms of location is hard to beat. However, the amenities are not good. The bed was too short, the glasses were stained, the mini fridge was rusted, the window was covered in smudges, and contrary to what I’d read in other reviews, the staff were not particularly friendly during my stay.\nThat said, for a short stay of one or two nights, and especially if you prioritise location over comfort, it can still be a worthwhile option. I would not recommend staying more than two or three nights."

"One of the worst (if not the worst) hotel experiences I’ve ever had.\n\nWhen we first arrived to drop off our luggage before check-in, the staff member on duty didn’t speak any English and had to call—presumably—the owner.\n\nThings really went downhill at check-in. There was a discrepancy between the rate confirmed through the online travel agency (Decolar) and what the hotel tried to charge us—€12 more per night. We showed our booking confirmation with the correct rate, and the staff member (who did speak English) understood the situation. However, he still had to contact the owner for authorization. Unfortunately, the owner was unreasonable and insisted we pay the higher amount. In the end, we were forced to cover a €36 difference.\n\nBeyond this major issue, the room itself was incredibly small—the bed took up almost the entire space, leaving just a narrow strip on one side. Not suitable for anyone even slightly claustrophobic. The bathroom was no better: essentially a cubicle that got completely soaked after a simple shower. The sink was so tiny that brushing our teeth was a struggle.\n\nIn summary, the only positive aspects were the hotel’s central location and the adorable cat."
