"We traveled two families, hoping for a relaxing and enjoyable getaway in Amsterdam, but this hotel completely destroyed all our impressions of the trip. I have never written a review before about any hotel, but this experience was so dreadful that I feel obligated to warn others.\n\nLet’s start with the breakfasts – absolutely disappointing, actually nothing to eat. The worst I’ve ever seen in any hotel, anywhere. The options were so limited that kids from the first day ended up skipping breakfast entirely. The hotel owners should go to other countries probably to see what breakfast is.\n\nBut the worst part – and I cannot emphasize this enough – were the bedbugs. Yes, BEDBUGS. It wasn’t just one or two bites; I woke up covered in itchy, swollen welts. I couldn’t believe it, my right eye was so swollen it was half-shut. My skin still hasn’t fully healed from bites. I thought they were finished somewhen after WW2, but no, the hotel seems to have been stuck in the Middle Ages. Given one morning a sewage truck parked right outside the building to pump the septic system. The stench was so overwhelming it made our eyes burn and we were ready to throw up. You couldn’t breathe, let alone enjoy your morning. We ran outdoors and went for a walk far from the hotel.\n\nIt’s beyond me how this place is allowed to operate. Cleanliness? Nonexistent. Comfort? Forget it. Hospitality? Not a trace. The staff didn’t seem surprised when we complained about bednugs – as if this was completely normal for them! They just changed our room which was half smaller that the one we paid for.\n\nThis hotel was not just a disappointment – it was a nightmare. I would never recommend this place to anyone. It turned what should’ve been a beautiful friend-and-family trip into a stressful, itchy disaster.\n\nStay far, far away."

"One of the worst hotel experiences of my life.\nI stayed at Prinsengracht Hotel in August 2024, and on the second-to-last night, I was severely bitten by bed bugs in the room. I suffered a serious allergic reaction that required medical attention — my whole body was covered in bite marks and I had difficulty breathing.\n\nDespite immediately contacting the hotel, I received no apology, no refund, no offer of help, and not even a response — even after weeks of waiting. This shows not just a complete lack of hygiene, but a complete lack of basic human decency and customer service.\n\nI paid €600 for a stay that ended in physical and emotional distress. I have photo evidence with geolocation and timestamps to prove everything.\n\nThis hotel should not be operating in its current condition. It is unsafe, unsanitary, and dishonest.\n\nI am in the process of reporting this incident to Dutch authorities and European consumer protection services.\n\nUntil then — avoid this hotel at all costs. You’re gambling with your health."
