Hotel Van Gogh

"I had two rooms booked for our family trip, and overall, we had a very pleasant stay. The rooms were clean—including the beds, towels, and overall space. We were a bit concerned beforehand due to some negative reviews, but our experience turned out to be very positive.\n\nIts bed arrangement was great; instead of just one or two large beds, the rooms had several individual beds, which worked great for our family. Everyone slept well.\n\nThe location was ideal for us. We visited multiple museums nearby, and it was easy to access public transportation. Since the hotel is not in the city center, it was also convenient for getting in and out of Amsterdam. There were great restaurants and shopping areas close by as well."

"We have been to this hotel on two previous occasions, but almost ten years later it has deteriorated beyond recognition in every regard! The entrance of the hotel is FILTHY (see photo), the staff are rude and unhelpful (apart from the male member on reception with the dark hair and beard), and the standard of service was appalling!\n\nWe had asked for a single room and a twin room on the ground or first floor (which we had when we stayed before), and yet were given a double and single room on the FOURTH FLOOR! My son`s single room was a tiny coffin shaped room with very little space for storage, and although I had paid a substantial amount for it for the 6 nights we stayed, he only received one coffee pod per day, on some days he received NO CLEAN TOWELS to replace his used towels, and on other days he received NO TOILET ROLLS, necessitating him going to reception for them! When he or us asked for extra coffee pods it was as though we were asking for the Crown Jewels, even although I paid over £1,300 (approx 15 hundred euros) for one double and one single room for 6 nights (excluding breakfast)!\nIn addition to the above, although the towels were clean (when they were replaced), they were often thin and thread bare (see pic), the carpet outside our rooms and at the lift were filthy the whole of the 6 days we were there (despite us having brought this to the attention of the reception both verbally and in writing, and the overall ambience of our rooms and the hotel in general was similar to what one would expect in HOSTEL FOR THE HOMELESS! Indeed, the opposite side of the hotel from which we stayed in had some dodgy looking characters going in and out, who were most unpleasant on the couple of occasions we had to say "excuse me" when we tried to get past them in the very small reception area.\nOn no account would we ever stay in this so called hotel again, which in our opinion rips people off by calling itself a hotel when in fact it is more like a Hostel for the Homeless and takes advantage of the fact that it is in a good location to lure tourists in, knowing fine well that you are powerless to do anything when you have prepaid as we had!\nIn XO`s response below, it states that if we had reported the above issues they would have been dealt with by the hotel. That is untrue, as both myself, my son and my partner reported the issues to reception verbally and also completed the feedback form we were emailed by XO during our stay in which we highlighted all of the above issues. In addition to this, I actually sent an email (a copy of which I still have) to the Hotel reception complaining about the issues, but again, received absolutely no response!\nAs stated previously, once XO have your money they are not interested in whether your accommodation is satisfactory or not, as is evident by the fact that at no time did they make any attempt to address any of the issues we communicated to them during our stay!"

"Perfect location to explore the city, a couple minutes walk to ride the tram so we can hop in and hop out easily with our three kids.. will definitely stay again in this area if we visit Amsterdam again.\nThe staff are all friendly and rooms are cleaned everyday.\nIt’s located in the Museumplein area so there are plenty of things to see in walking distance."
