"Perfect quite and cute hotel away from the noise and tourist area of Amsterdam. The rooms are very modern and clean, and the shower in our room felt spa like. The rooms are small, but that's standard in Amsterdam, and the quality of the room makes up for it.\n\nEverything in Amsterdam is walking distance and the Metro is a 5 minute walk from the hotel. It's very easy to get from the airport to the hotel on the regional trains from the airport, then transfer to the Metro, doesn't take longer then 35 minutes.\n\nHighly recommend Hotel Nicolas Witsen if you're looking for something affordable, clean, and quiet."

"I stayed at this hotel for three nights at the end of June and I don’t have a single bad thing to say apart from one encounter on our last afternoon. When we returned to collect our bags before heading to the airport, the two staff at the desk, a man and a young woman, seemed uninterested and gave the impression we were interrupting their conversation. That aside, every other staff member we met during our stay was incredibly kind, helpful and professional.\n\nWe stayed in Room 37 on the third floor and I genuinely think it was one of the best rooms in the hotel. It had a large window that let in lots of natural light, which I loved. The bed was comfortable and although the room felt small at first, it was very cleverly laid out with lots of storage. The bathroom was compact but stylish, and the shower had great water pressure. There was also a full-length mirror by the door with good lighting, which made it easy to get ready.\n\nThe room also had a mini fridge, a safe for valuables and a smart TV which we mainly used for YouTube. The air conditioning worked well, though it doesn’t go lower than 18 degrees. That was fine for us, but the room could get quite warm with the windows closed. Luckily, the windows opened wide, which I personally loved for letting in fresh air and even sitting on the ledge to look outside. Maybe not ideal for young children, but perfect for adults who enjoy a view. We were facing the apartments, but as it was new to us, we didn't mind.\n\nOne nice perk was the complimentary coffee available downstairs 24 hours a day. It actually made the coffee machine in the room feel a bit unnecessary. I would have preferred that space to be used for a small vanity or more counter space instead. We didn’t try the breakfast, as there were plenty of local spots nearby, but the location itself was brilliant. The hotel is really well connected, with trams, supermarkets, restaurants and popular areas like De Pijp all within easy reach. We discovered at least five different ways to get to and from the hotel during our stay.\n\nWe also booked through Booking.com and because we spent over a certain amount, the hotel arranged a complimentary transfer from the airport. We were picked up in a Tesla by a friendly driver who gave us some great local tips.\n\nThe only minor downside was the soundproofing. I could occasionally hear doors slamming or hallway noise, and one morning there was loud drilling before 8 am, but that only happened once and didn’t take away from the overall experience.\n\nI felt safe, relaxed and comfortable throughout my stay. My belongings were secure and the room was clean, fresh and well maintained. I would definitely stay here again. Even though it is officially a three-star hotel, I would personally rate it closer to four. And if you get Room 37, consider yourself lucky."
