"What an unusual little gem.\n\nUpon arrival we were greeted and checked in promptly.\n\nWe had heard about bed bug issues (from past reviews). We addressed it and were assured that it is regularly fumigated.\n\nLobby was impressive. Free tea and coffee facilities. Free fruit is a nice touch. Cold water available too.\n\nUpon entering the room. We were impressed and pleased to see there were no traces of vermin.\n\nRooms are small but perfect for a short getaway.\n\nFans were provided in every room.\n\nBudget friendly.\n\nThe only issue is that we had one socket for our electronics.\n\nKeep it up"

"The room we had was very compact. It was very simple with a bed, fan, and night stand. The bathroom was a little scary and tight, the bathroom door didn't have enough space to fully open. overall, the staff were friendly and the location was perfect. It is like a 3 minute walk to the tram station, a bakery on the corner, and a lot of restaurants, bars, and shopping nearby. I would recommend people to stay here if you're looking for a simple place to sleep and see amsterdam!"

"We arrived at this hotel only to find the bedding covered in stains, stains on the carpeted floor, and the ‘canal view’ that was advertised/we paid extra for was obstructed by construction scaffolding. The next morning, we were awoken early by men yelling outside our window while working on the building. To be fair, we understand that construction is not necessarily in the hotel’s control, but we wish they would have shared with us that this was occurring upon booking.\n\nWhen we brought these issues up to the receptionist, they told us that there was nothing they could do and that we should email the management. We sent several emails over our stay, only for all to go unanswered. Finally, they sent us an email a full day after our reservation ended where they implied we were being dishonest about our complaints because we had tried to adjust our hotel reservation by a day prior to even arriving in Amsterdam. They also said they value quick and honest communication, which is simply untruthful considering we sent four emails over our stay and also repeatedly asked reception to help us get in contact with management. Their decision to email us only after we left, coupled with the fact they accused us of lying, shows how little they care for customers.\n\nWhen we responded to these allegations, they told us they would no longer be contacting us and that they considered the problem solved. They reiterated that they would not refund us for our stay despite that not being the crux of our issue - we simply wanted to discuss options. The only time we received any offer to change rooms/etc was when the reception called us at 22:30 the night before we checked out to offer us another room - keeping in mind, we declined politely as we would be leaving in less than 12 hours and just asked to speak to management.\n\nTo reiterate - the stained bedding, undisclosed construction, and poor communication are not considered serious problems by this hotel. I would recommend staying anywhere else in Amsterdam, as the staff here do not respect you and will avoid you/call you liars, and then refuse to engage in a serious conversation with you. Stay anywhere else - i promise it’ll be worth it"
