Hotel Gulpen

"I stayed here with my partner for one night at the end of June and we were both pleasantly surprised by the hotel.\nThe rooms are clean, nice, and modern and have all necessities.\nThe breakfast was also really nice and with many choices.\nThe location is in an idyllic village where there are multiple places for long walks through nature.\nTruly remarkable.\nI will definitely return to this hotel."

"Old fashioned hotel with new owners in the centre of Gulpen, behind the main square. Lots of tourist information all around. The building is old and strong. Furniture of the rooms is old fashioned with some IKEA add ons. We had a small room, which was indeed small. Windows can be opened, which was useful because it was freaking hot the night we stayed here. They offer a fan, but in future they plan airco. At least for the top floor. Bathroom small and very plain. Shower was good though. Due to bad blisters I needed the first aid kit, but the receptionist would not give it. Nor did he (try) to understand the problem. Luckily we could purchase our own stuff just before the shops of Gulpen closed (1800). In the positive side, the hotel offer a breakfast on the go, which is really nice and extended. It would be even better if they offer also a vegetarian or vegan option, but the packagenitself was good and fresh."

"It is the hotel if you do not want to sleep. As a frequent traveler, this was unfortunately one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had — mainly because I couldn’t sleep until 5 AM due to the unbearable noise.\n\nThere’s no night reception, only a phone service. When I called for help, they simply told me to call the Dutch police myself and said, “It’s Friday — people party.” The noise came from a bar right outside the hotel. While the bar closed around 3 AM, people were still shouting and partying, singing loudly and screaming just outside our window until 4:30 AM.\n\nThe room had no AC and was too warm to sleep with the window closed. But even with it closed, the old windows offered zero soundproofing.\n\nIn the morning, the receptionist was kind and service-minded. He offered breakfast and promised that the manager would call us later that day. We waited three days — no one called.\n\nAfter three days, we followed up ourselves with ophone call and a written email and finally received an email offering a 25% refund. The manager issued it without our confirmation or further discussion, which felt dismissive.\n\nIt is a known problem when I read reviews but I thought people over complaining as I always could sleep. However, the whole family was wake during the whole night.\n\nVery disappointing experience. The only made it was the receptionist who worked thst morning. However, the service point go down due to the manager who never contacted us and no willing to listen or negociate.\n\nPretty city and charming hotel estetically but I don’t recommend staying here if you actually plan to sleep.\n\nThey need to talk to the municipality to adress the issue, which their personal mentioned as it id frequent problem. Or change the window so it is more sound proofing and leave ear plugs in the room!\n\n......\nLastly, Thanks to the hotel for your promt reply. But I want to respectfully express that it feels not right that you use someone's first name in a public space without consent - even though it is not mine.\n\nThe review reflects our honest and factual experience.\n\nWe appreciate the kindness of your receptionist, but the lack of proactive management communication and response after our stay was deeply disappointing.
