"Would give it 2.5. Stayed here for two nights, booked for four but had to leave (mainly unrelated). The room was dirty, with marks all over the bedding, the walls, the seats and the curtains were stained badly. The en-suite was pretty good, clean and everything worked well. My main problem was the lack of ventilation. The room was so hot, way hotter than the street despite having the AC on maximum. The staff gave me a fan which made it better, and I’m grateful for that but it was still way too hot during the day. The windows don’t even partially open so my room felt clammy with no fresh air coming in at all, all that hot stagnant air isn’t great. Also my door didn’t fully lock? The lock only turned part of the way and unlocked itself when the handle was pushed down even slightly which made me feel pretty unsafe as I slept (solo female traveller). The location is great, super easy to get to and from the airport on the bus, and the staff were friendly and helpful, trying to make the best of my bad situation. Oh and my room had a really nice view of the city. Knocked one star off the service for the cleaning."

"We stayed at Hotel Espresso City Centre for three nights, and I have very mixed feelings about our stay.\n\nLet me start with the positives. The location is absolutely fantastic — truly one of the best features of this hotel. We didn’t even need to use public transportation. We walked everywhere and managed to explore a huge part of central Amsterdam just on foot. There are plenty of restaurants, cafés, and shops nearby, all within easy walking distance. That made our experience in the city really enjoyable.\n\nThe staff at the front desk were also very nice and helpful every time we interacted with them. Everyone was polite and welcoming, which I really appreciated.\n\nBut unfortunately, the room itself was a big disappointment. It was honestly quite depressing. Despite daily housekeeping, the room was extremely dusty — not just a little bit, but noticeably dusty to the point where it was uncomfortable. It didn’t feel like any deep cleaning or wet cleaning was ever done.\n\nThere was also no sense of comfort or coziness in the room. The furniture felt randomly placed, with no thought put into the layout or design. It just didn’t feel welcoming at all. If you’re the kind of traveler who spends all day out and only comes back to sleep — this place might work. But if, for example, it’s raining and you have to spend some time indoors, the atmosphere in the room is quite gloomy.\n\nAlso, considering the price, I couldn’t help but compare it to what we’d get for the same money in the U.S. — and honestly, for that price, we could easily get a proper 4-star hotel back home. It just didn’t feel like it was worth what we paid.\n\nOverall, I would give it a 3 out of 5. Great location, nice staff — but the room experience needs serious improvement."

"I’ve been to many hotels in my life but this one was by far the worst. I’ll start with the positives the stuff is friendly and the hotel has a good location.\nThe downside is the cleanliness which is by far the most important to me. I booked the hotel for 6 nights but left after the first night. When coming in I already saw the room was very dirty. A ventilator filled with dust. Dust everywhere. But by far the worst was I always smell towels before using them to see if they are fresh and I’m not joking but the towels there smelt like sperm not even kidding never experienced something that disgusting in a hotel. Then removed the blanket and there were also stains all over the bed. Asked the stuff if I can get a new room was told it’s not possible then told them about the towels and the bed. The towels were switched I guess but I didn’t trust those as well since they also smelt weird."
