Mercure Paris Notre Dame Saint Germain des Prés

"This hotel has a rotting infrastructure and is weakly managed.\nI was there at the end of June 2025 when it was exceptionally hot, in the 80s and 90s. The air conditioning failed in several rooms, including mine, and of course it did no good to open the windows. They did provide fans, but that was not up to expectations.\nI got into the shower at the end of the day, with some time pressure to get to an evening commitment and found that the shower drain was about 70% clogged so I had to run the water at about 50%. When I tried to report that on the phone, it was impossible to find out how to reach the front desk (the secret was to dial 9). I travel a lot, I am in hotels about 6 - 8 weeks a year and most of them give dialing instructions on the phone.\nAnd when I tried to use the hairdryer in the bathroom, the plug fell out of the outlet. (The secret on that is that you must not just push the plug into the socket, you must also push the socket into the wall about another quarter inch. I ran into that again, but I have never found that feature elsewhere in Europe and, indeed, if you tried that elsewhere I suspect you might get electrocuted.)\nI had a "prestige" (more expensive) room. The foot of the bed was about 12 - 14" away from the wall. The "balcony" was a disk less than a yard in diameter.\nThe breakfast attendant was frequently missing and failed to replace items that had run out.\nThe room was clean and the bedding very good.\n\nI had marvelous experiences at two other Mercure hotels on that trip, so I will stick with them, but they need to understand that the value of a brand depends consistency, and this place does not measure up."

"Great location. Would stay at the hotel again. We had a superior ?? Room. Just big enough. More hanging space would have been nice plus a couple of drawers would help!!!"
