The Sinis Peninsula deserves at least a full day. Start at the church of San Giovanni di Sinis (6th century, one of Sardinia's oldest Christian buildings), then explore Tharros — founded by Phoenicians in the 8th century BCE and later a major Roman city, its columns still standing against the sea. The adjacent Torre di San Giovanni, a 16th-century Spanish watchtower, surveys the Gulf of Oristano. Finish with a swim at Is Arutas or sundowners watching flamingos in the Cabras lagoon.
