"We hired the private room here for a celebration - the staff could not have been nicer or more helpful in the lead up. It was a really smooth planning experience and everything on the day went well too. Very reasonable corkage and great food selection. They were also very relaxed with us bringing a cake and serving it. Will be back!"

"Food was great, service was poor, waited 45 mins to place an order and that was with one of us going inside to get someone. Then when ordering dessert we were told the kitchen had closed, we weren't asked at any time if we wanted Pudding, nor informed of the imminent closure of the kitchen. The staff were nice, but there didn't seem to be many of them. A bit disappointing as it was my friends birthday."

"My comments pertain to the pub, not the accommodation. I've been going to the William for years as it's very near where I live. However, for a beer it tends to be pretty disappointing. For years the only cask beer it serves is called Purity, which comes from Warwickshire. It's not a bad beer, but I really don't understand the pub's unbending loyalty to a beer brewed 100 miles away (particularly when it's always the only option). London is brimming with excellent brewers now - why not support a local business or two, and reduce food miles? I asked the manager this question over a year ago, and he seemed open to the idea, but nothing has changed.\n\nOn Friday I went in and they had run out of Purity two days earlier and had no other barrel. That seems pretty poor management, but the issue could also be averted if they had a relationship with a local brewer, who could deliver a barrel at short notice. Portobello brewery is about a mile away and makes great beer (I have no vested interest.) So I was steered to the keg beers, but two of those were unavailable as well. I go infrequently to the William but would go far more often if the beer selection were better. The focus seems to be on the hotel and quite expensive food, but it is a mistake to overlook local drinkers"
