"We were quite disappointed; and must say the social media posts on this hotel definitely give the impression that it is more than it actually offers.\n\nFirstly, hospitality was lackluster. No effort for an early check in, despite a request months in advance, no help carrying bags when we arrived, room had one towel and didn’t get refreshed much, and the “bar/breakfast” is more of a make shift bar with no bartender and a continental breakfast. No one was rude, but again; was not real hospitality, which one would expect from a smaller boutique hotel. Most people at the front desk seemed inexperienced. We stayed a few nights and seemed like a new person every night. No one asked how our stay was going during our visit. Would expect more for the price.\n\nAs for the room, we got their medium room and it was quite small, virtually no closet space. The bathtub was the best feature, but perhaps from what we saw on social media with the influencer posts one must get the most expensive room for the real space and view. To think they offer rooms smaller than what we got is mind boggling.\n\nIt wasn’t a bad hotel, just disappointing. Location is great."

"I’ve been sitting on writing this review for a few months now but it stays on my mind. We paid in our home currency about a $1000 for a single night in this room. I desperately wanted to come back because I stayed a couple years ago and loved it! This trip was not that and I’m so glad we only booked one night. The room was gorgeous until you started looking closer. There was a massive (really gross looking) stain that looked essentially hidden by room service under the duvet on the bed. We ignored it thinking it’s only one night but then breakfast in the morning was laughable supposedly. My partner ventured down there and returned saying other guests were audibly laughing at the pathetic “breakfast” that was available. I had to take a business call right at checkout time, I asked front desk (young man) for 15 minutes of grace to quickly take it in my room before departing. He smiled and seemed like he would help but then this older woman entered the hotel in the morning to start her shift by the look of it. Before even hearing out the situation she very firmly and loudly barked “ABSOLUTELY NOT”. I am not joking when I say it was raining and she still had her umbrella in her hand and coat on. She had no real idea of what was even going on when she rudely spoke between us. I recognize her from a couple years ago when I stayed so unfortunately I believe this was some form of manager. Regardless, we left with a horrible feeling in our stomachs that we just wasted a grand on a dirty room, sad food, and incredibly rude service. My partner even told them off on our way out when they said “hope you enjoyed your stay”. He replied “you need to learn hospitality”. Im so torn on the Portobello because I truly want to love it but they really turned us off during our last stay. Good luck travellers!"

"SCANDALOUS-This hotel cannot handle PRM people\n-we had a high category room booked at the second floor\n-we were tought AT THE RECEPTION on our day of arruval that the lift was broken\n-we asked if they had a same category room that would be accessible, they told us we could have one on the ground floor\n-we get on with our day, come back to the hotel THE GROUND FLOOR ROOM HAD BEEN TAKEN AND THEY PUT US IN A LOWER GROUND ROOM WITH MORE THAN TEN STAIRS to get to it\n(Plus the room is gloomy and clearly not as good as the one we had asked for)\n-This is so scandalous that in 2025 hotel (moreover of this standing) cannot handle PMR poeple\n\n(Furthermore the fact that they dont even warn their guests per mail that their lift is broken shows how little they care about mobility issues and dont question themselves about validity-which is really cerise sur le gateau for a hotel, as we say in french)"
