Rooms are small and essential, amenities of good quality. Bed is super comfy. Bathroom might need a fresh up but definitely decent! Location well connected via metro"

"**A Tale of Two Hotels: Sonder Meets Marriott**\n\nOur recent stay at the Sonder Gilbert in London began with promise: a quirky, self-service concept that offered guests the freedom to manage their own room needs in exchange for lower rates. It wasn’t traditional hospitality, but that was part of the appeal—think more minimalist retreat than full-service hotel.\n\nMidway through our visit, however, the hotel underwent a transition as Marriott Bonvoy took over the Sonder chain. Sadly, the change was not seamless. Prices increased, booking flexibility diminished, and the already pared-down service was further reduced. The thoughtful balance that once defined Sonder’s model seemed to vanish overnight.\n\nThis isn’t to say the Sonder concept was flawless, but at least it had clarity and consistency. The current experience feels stuck between two identities, without the benefits of either. There are certainly better-value accommodations nearby, with welcoming service and clearer expectations.\n\nMarriott’s long-term strategy may yet emerge, but for now, the Gilbert feels like a story caught mid-chapter—one that leaves both guests and staff hoping for a better ending."

"AVOID at all costs especially during the summer. Room temperature can reach 30+ degrees no AC and windows are tiny and locked. It’s unbearable for anyone to sleep in these conditions.\n\nAlso rooms are misrepresented in all their photos purposely. They have chosen 1-2 rooms that are the best in the hotel and the rest of their room have nothing in common. An example follows for their twin room advertised vs what you actually get."
