Hampstead Britannia Hotel

"The room was very clean and most of the staff very friendly and helpful. We booked a double room with no windows for 3 nights, and the room was very clean, equipped with two fans making the stay comfortable. Located perfectly in the Centre just a 5 min walk to both primrose hill and Camden centrum, and chalk farm subway station. No cleaning, hairdryer or bathroom carpet though.\n\nWould have rated higher for the money we paid for it, however one evening in the bar, I paid almost 5£ for a 33cl beer, and when I grabbed the bottle and turned, I accidentally hit the high chair and dropped the bottle that spilled half the beer on the floor. The barman kindly cleaned it up (also, to add here, there were no other customers, it was very quiet and I was being perfectly respectable just there for some quiet reading) I explained what happened and how sorry I was, and explained I didn't see high chair just behind my elbow, and I asked if he would serve me a new beer. Then he started charging me for the new beer, and I was very surprised by this and therefore asked him "are you really going to charge me for that". He got a bit annoyed and when I said that I was just surprised, considering it was clearly an accident and that I didn't even get to my table, he told me otherwise it would be taken from his salary. I was chocked by this and the took the half empty bottle and then left to sit in the bar next door instead.\n\nI don't know if the guy made this up, in which case that would have been horrible service, but honestly he was friendly enough before and as someone who worked in service all my life I'm assuming what he said was true, which case I feel that's horrible service on the company's part. It's absolutely fair to have to pay for something you break, however if a costumer spill their drink by accident before even getting to the table, and you charge 5£ for a small beer, I find it outrageous to not replace the drink free of charge. That's basic customer service, and spilled drinks are costs that bars or restaurants counts with accidentally go to waste every now and then. At the end of the day, I would have spend more than enough to make up for it and then some, but instead I left to spend the money elsewhere which is a shame. You should really consider changing your policies, as this little incident has left a very sour taste in our mouths after the stay."

"Definitely clean, modern and refurbished.\n\nWe are here for one night in April 2025.\n\nThe room is perfect. Spacious, well kitted out and clean.\n\nThe bathroom is even more perfect than the bedroom with everything brand new.\n\nAn excellent location on the edge of Primrose Hill with easy access to Camden and the West End.\n\nStaff have been superb, kind and accommodating.\n\nDefinitely recommend if you would like to stay in a budget hotel in an excellent location."

"We stayed here for one night as we had a concert to attend. The guy who checked us in was really friendly, the rooms were clean enough and had things like a iron and hair dryer. However, the whole experience went down hill when my mum had collected us from the concert to return back at the hotel at 1am to no parking. I was told at reception that it's first come first serve and we should have used public transport even though we'd paid £15 for the night and was never told this on check-in. The manager on duty was less than helpful or understanding. We only got sorted because of the other guy who was on the desk suggesting the front of the hotel to park at. To pay for a parking spot, not be told it would be sold again to someone else and be told you'll just have to take the risk of being fined was appalling."
