54 Queens Gate Hotel

"I stayed here on my first trip to London from the USA. The hotel's best qualities are it's location and it's staff. The hotel is near 2 different underground stations (Gloucester Station and South Kensington). You are also walking distance from Hyde Park, The Natural History Museum, The Prince Albert Music Hall, and the Victoria and Albert Museum. I actually recommend this area in general for anyone traveling to London for the first time, at least if you want somewhere quieter to start/end your day. The hotel itself is small, and much less corporate than the other hotels nearby. The hallways and rooms are small and narrow, but it does give you a "traditional" British feel. The staff are friendly and accommodating. Breakfast is provided, but you need to ask for a reservation. The breakfast is pretty basic, with the breakfast bar being mostly bagels, oatmeal, hard boiled eggs, and cheese/tomato/ham slices. You need to ask for warm food, eggs and bacon or sausage, and you may need to pay extra if it's not included in your stay already. While I'll probably try a more modern hotels next time I travel to the UK, I really enjoyed my time at this hotel."

"This is a real bijoux hotel, almost in the heart of the city but an oasis of calm, you just need to come in and close the door.\n\nThis is my second time to visit and I was in a slightly smaller but no less comfortable room, spotless, comfy bed, plenty of room to hang stuff, loads of plugs and a lovely place to chill and just read.\n\nDownstairs there is a comfortable residents lounge. The breakfast room gives out onto a patio that would be nice in summer and the breakfasts are prepared to-order.\n\nStep out the door and the museums are literally across the road, bus stops and tube stations are no more than 3 or four minutes walk.\n\nLovely, lovely place."

"An excellent location for Royal Albert Hall. A nicely appointed property, with a very welcome reception room with very comfortable seating and bar. Our bedroom was extremely compact/ cramped, suitcase had to go in the bathroom & push the desk around to make room to move. Nice room but poor supplies, we had one Camomile and one Earl grey tea bag & a few of the usual milk capsules. That was disappointing. The bathroom window does not secure and was draughty. Nice shower. Writing on soap bottles is very small! The room and other guest areas could do with the woodwork cleaning. Guests notice these things. The breakfast room is small and you need to reserve a time slot. A good selection of breakfast cereal, toast, scrambled egg, sausage & bacon cooked to order, but they had ran out of sausage at 9.30am. The service was good."
