"Hotel Review: Hotel Riu Plaza\n★★★★☆ (4/5)\n\n🏨 Hotel: ★★★★☆\nHotel Riu Plaza is a solid 4-star stay. The overall atmosphere is modern and well-maintained. The rooftop and bar area are absolutely lovely—great for relaxing and taking in the views. However, one downside was the long waiting time for the lifts, which happened consistently throughout the stay.\n\n🛏 Room: ★★★★☆\nThe room itself was clean and comfortable, deserving of 4 stars. There was a nice balcony, but be aware—it comes at an extra cost. A couple of drawbacks: the room has blackout curtains, but light still does sneak in, and there’s no minibar or shower slippers, which you’d typically expect at this level.\n\n🍳 Breakfast: ★★★★★\nBreakfast was a highlight—absolutely fantastic with a wide variety of fresh and delicious options. Definitely 5-star quality in this area.\n\n🧑‍💼 Service: ★★★★\nStaff were very friendly and helpful, but communication could be tricky since many had limited English. Despite the language barrier, everyone was welcoming and made an effort to assist.\n\nOverall, a very good experience with a few minor inconveniences. Great value if you’re after comfort, a delicious breakfast, nice pool, and a scenic rooftop bar."

"We had a fantastic stay at this hotel! It definitely has the wow factor! Staff were all very welcoming and friendly. The hotels app was very efficient for anything you needed during your stay. Rooms were clean, modern and decorated nicely. The beds were so comfy also! The pool was a nice bonus to have but can get busy. I would suggest making the pool area adults only as the pool isn’t big enough for kids to play in. The rooftop bar has amazing views of Madrid and a nice atmosphere in the evenings. It does get very busy and service for drinks can be slow. Food and drink was on the pricier side but to be expected at a hotel like this. Location was great and you had everything you needed right on your doorstep. Breakfast was delicious especially the fresh fruit but it did get busy at peak times. Overall a very nice, relaxing stay. Thank you!"

"The hotel was large and full due to the Madrid Pride Celebrations. However the hotel didn’t feel crowded and all amenities were accessible. Breakfast was good and in our four nights of stay there was no queuing to be seated. The breakfast staff were very efficient at directing guests to tables and ensuring hot drinks were delivered promptly.\n\nThe pool was very busy but we managed to find sun beds either around the pool or the adjacent terrace. Unfortunately the hotel does not provide free drinking water around the pool - this should be offered given the really high temperature. At the price point of the hotel and star rating, I found this disappointing and very much penny-pinching.\n\nThe roof top bar was very good and had excellent views over the Plaza España. It was busy on both occasions we went.\n\nWe had a room with a large furnished terrace overlooking the Plaza España which was very busy and atmospheric due to the Pride stage below. The room was big, excellently furnished with a very impressive bathroom. Servicing of the room was excellent.\n\nOverall a very good, busy, city hotel. It was made excellent by the staff in all areas of the hotel - friendly, efficient polite and couldn’t do enough to make your stay special. Thank you."
