W Barcelona

"I love staying here! I have stayed here twice. Once in November and back again! Once arrive via taxi or uber, I was greeted with staff and a beautiful sail boat shaped hotel.\n\nRight at the check in was Max who was very friendly and helpful whom provided stellar service since the first time I met him. He is here again providing excellent service alongside Carolina. While waiting to check in I was also greeted by Rachel who was very friendly and asked me if I would like some complementary drinks while waiting. I asked for a coffee and she provided me some with sugar and I’m no time as I mentioned I was still a little jet lagged. She also offered a drink for my friend too.\n\nI live staying at this hotel with amazing amenities and beautiful room views of the bay. I love the pool and fitness center as well as laying out in the beach.\n\nThis is a fantastic place to stay and whenever I travel to Barcelona I always look forward to staying here at least a night.\n\nThank you for providing excellent service and the best stay for me while I am at Barcelona!"

"The W Barcelona is visually stunning—towering sail-shape, steps from the sand, and a lobby that buzzes day and night. We loved waking up to the Med, and the energy around the pool & beachfront promenade is contagious.\n\nUnfortunately the polish didn’t extend past first impressions. Check-in ran more than an hour late with little proactive communication. Once in the room, we discovered an already-opened (and pricey) minibar bottle—front desk eventually removed the charge, but only after a follow-up call.\n\nFinding breakfast proved a scavenger hunt: signage is minimal and staff at one closed venue simply told us “we’re not open” without directing us to the active restaurant. When we did locate it, the spread was solid—but the detour ate into our morning plans.\n\nRoom design is sleek, yet the shower’s tile slope sent water across half the bathroom each use. Housekeeping brought extra towels as “dams,” which shouldn’t be needed at this price point.\n\nWait staff for the lounge chairs and cabanas was not great at all. They are happy to talk to each other at the service desk and stare at you.\n\nBottom line: Come for the unbeatable location and vibe, but temper expectations on service consistency. Not in line with other W's I've stayed at."

"This is only my second night out of four, but I’m already too excited to start writing this review — not because I love it here, but because I can’t wait to warn you.\n\nLet’s start with the good: the view is actually pretty nice (of course, I paid extra for that). That’s about it. Location? Far from anything useful — no sights, no shops, just a long commute to anywhere fun.\n\nMy first day already set the tone. I was welcomed with… well, actually, I wasn’t. The receptionist warmly asked the guests before and after me what help they needed, while somehow failing to see a 180cm man standing right in front of her. Invisible man powers unlocked, I guess.\n\nThen came my first room. The “fragrance” of chemical cleaner was so strong it felt like a science lab. I reported it to the front desk, who said they’d “check with the manager.” The manager never showed up, only sent the receptionist back to tell me there were “no spare rooms of the same type.” After my firm insistence, they came to sniff for themselves. Surprise! They agreed there was a smell — and surprise again! A room of the same type magically appeared (though on a lower floor). Apparently, free downgrades are the only upgrades here.\n\nToday’s highlight? I called for a toothbrush in the afternoon. Four calls later — the last one in a less-than-sunny tone — it finally arrived… after 90 minutes. I can only assume they had to buy it from the city center, and traffic must have been terrible. The staff member then told me, “Don’t shout at me.” Yes, as a guest who paid €2000, the fact that I went from polite requests to frustration was apparently my fault, not theirs.\n\nOverall? Highly unrecommended. This place has single-handedly ruined my holiday. From front desk to housekeeping, the entire operation feels amateurish, nowhere near a five-star standard. Save yourself the money — and your patience."
