"1-Star Review: ibis Styles Barcelona Sant Joan Despí – Very Disappointing Experience\n\nWe stayed at ibis Styles Barcelona Sant Joan Despí and were very disappointed with our experience. We’ve stayed at many ibis Styles hotels before, but this one fell far below expectations.\n\n👎 What Went Wrong:\n• Unfriendly Staff\nReception and restaurant staff were cold and, at times, outright rude. When we politely asked if we could use the pool quietly before opening hours (10:00-20:00), the receptionist cut us off with a blunt “no” without any explanation or courtesy.\nLater, when the car park gate wouldn’t open, my partner had to run upstairs to ask reception for help. The receptionist responded abruptly: “I know, I know, the gate is now open.” No apology or kindness — just attitude. It was an upsetting way to end our stay.\n• Overpriced for What You Get\nThe room was extremely basic for the price. It definitely wasn’t worth the rate charged.\n• Poor Breakfast Experience\nThe breakfast options were not fresh. Some items tasted old, and the restaurant floor was dirty, with food scattered around, which made the whole area feel unhygienic and neglected.\n• Limited Pool Hours\nThe swimming pool is only open from 10:00 to 20:00, which is very limiting, especially if you enjoy a morning swim. No flexibility at all from staff when we asked to use it earlier — just a hard “no.”\n• Parking Problems\nWhile parking is free, getting out was a hassle. The gate and door didn’t open, and instead of helping calmly, the receptionist seemed irritated by the request.\n\n👍 What Was OK:\n• Free Parking – When it worked, it was convenient.\n• Decent Location – The hotel is not far from central Barcelona, though you’ll need transport.\n\n🚫 Final Thoughts:\n\nThis hotel lacked basic hospitality, cleanliness, and respect for guests. We left feeling frustrated and unwelcome. There are much better options in and around Barcelona for the same or even lower price.\n\nWe would not return and strongly recommend avoiding this hotel.\n\n⭐️"

"Overall, it was good service. Some of the receptionists' behavior is not good; they exhibit an extra attitude, which is not an appropriate manner. The location is so far from the Barcelona city center, if you have a car, then recommend otherwise, no."

"I was very disappointed with my stay at this hotel. For the high price I paid, I expected much better quality and service. The room was average at best, definitely not in line with the expensive rates.\n\nBreakfast was especially poor—very limited healthy selection, and the boiled eggs were clearly from the previous day, already opened and cold from the refrigerator.\n\nTo make matters worse, I was charged two taxes despite staying alone. When I brought this to the staff’s attention, they did nothing to resolve it.\n\nOverall, not a good value for money. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel."
