"Wonderful staff, interiors and location. Perfect for a romantic weekend. Situated in a quiet area just a 5 minute walk to the bohemian bars and cafes lining Rua de Santos O Velho (visiting these is a must, we recommend nearby Yallah and Bloom). Hotel interiors are gorgeous, exactly what we wanted in a former 17th century palacio; marble, masonry and tiles tastefully restored. Candles line the stairs at night. The weather wasn’t quite right to test the pool but its courtyard looked lush for a warm summer’s day. Our superior room was well sized and decorated, the bed was comfy though the bathroom was dated and the towels / dressing gowns were also tired which let the room down; given the overall experience is luxe, I’d have expected higher quality. There was just one mirror in the bathroom which made getting ready more difficult when there’s two of you. Would have been nice to have one near the vanity area. The service was impeccable; staff were polite, friendly and welcoming. You felt like a guest in a b&b which we preferred over staying in an anonymous hotel. Breakfast is served in a lovely room with a small but considered and balanced menu. Very happy."
