Super Hotel JR Ueno Iriyaguchi

"The cleanliness of the hotel is unacceptable .  Upon door opens a strong  musky smell.  The window is wet with water dripping down in the morning (if you close curtain). Ventilation is very bad in the room.\nThe room is very dark.  The washroom has a strong pee smell upon door open.\n\nThe location is far from the train station. The gate is only at the south side of the station only.  Form gate exit, a long walk inside station without AC and no shops at all.  Do not trust google. The station looks close to the hotel for a 5-minute walk. But it's not. 12 minutes walk at least after exited gate.\n\nPoor customer services, requested for replace blanket or duvet cover (semlls & yellow cover) upon arrival(see photo)  I bring blanket down to the reception on July 4, and refused by a staff,  he asked us to sleep with the dirty blanket for one night.\n\nSecurity:  I don't feel safe as they use password lock, pin to enter.  No hotel access card system.\n\nCommon area: The smoking area found  rats almost every night (stay 6 nights there)and also cockroach (see video).  Same experience with another google vistor.\n\nI have been to many hotels in Japan, and this is the only one i will give a low review. The best part is they offer free breakfast   I would not recommend this hotel, 1. location far from station exit, residential area, long walk.   No shops around within 10 min.  2. Cleaness is the major concern.  Rooms smell.  Rats and cockroaches seem multiple times."

"Great location in Tokyo center . Honestly I read the reviews and I was skeptical about booking there but I don’t regret . Great service and friendly staff . Clean room . However , I think it’s good only for one person as I was on my own . Will be a bit too tiny for a couple or family with kids . Nice bathroom , but the pillows weren’t great . Too rocky and too hard . I knew only at the end of my stay they had soft pillow at reception we could have taken earlier . Will come back again there on my next visit for sure !!"

"This place is pretty close to the JR Ueno and Tokyo Metro Ueno stations. About 5 to 10 minutes walked from the stations. Very central area for Tokyo in my opinion and nearby several tourist attractions. Ueno Park and a nearby market area. Rooms are pretty small but if you're not in there long it's fine. I stayed in early April so hotel prices were more expensive than usual. They also offered a simple breakfast buffet which was nice."
