Onyado Nono Asakusa Natural Hot Springs

"Pros:\n- very clean. Shoe free-zone inside the hotel and there's a locker for your shoes. House keepers clean your room everyday and provide you with fresh towels.\n- close to Sensoji, so the neighborhood is very pretty and old-timey\n- tatami mats - very nice to experience it all thru out the hotel interior and in my room\n- felt safe as a solo female traveler\n- very nice staff\n- quiet - couldn't hear my neighbors at all and certainly don't hear all the screams from the amusement park right next door\n- free coffee station for everyone every morning (note there's Fuglen coffee shop is a block away and opens at 7am with v good coffee)\n- umbrellas provided to borrow\n- a minute walk to conbini (but that's prob true for most hotels in Tokyo)\n\nCons:\n- small room (but this is Tokyo so kinda expected it)\n- room faces the alleyway so not a nice view but I did get a discount on the single room and was barely home anyway\n- slower wifi. If you need hotel wifi for work, I would reconsider. (I got really good eSim so it wasn't catastrophic for me)\n\nConsiderations:\n- longer walk to the two closest train lines (Ginza and Asakusa lines) so beware of this when you book, esp if this is your first time. 12-15 minutes walk is long when you carry around souvenirs. I knew this going in and was fine with it for the most part.\n- breakfasts not included and is an additional fee per day. I personally liked it. Very simple favor profile, basic fare, very Japanese. But not much variety from day to day. You can get extra servings. I'm glad I got it for convenience's sake but I wish I didn't get it for everyday I was there.\n- If you have small tatts, get waterproof bandaids to cover it up. If you have large ones, you cannot go into the onsen and therefore this might not be the hotel for you."

"I have been to Japan many times, have stayed in many hotels in Japan and this is the worst hotel. The room is small, but acceptable because its price is cheaper than the hotels I stayed in Tokyo. However, the thing to mention here is the extremely bad, very bad staff attitude. Except for the male receptionists who are cheerful and supportive of customers, I have not seen a smile or support from the female staff. I feel like the staff here are always frowning, annoyed and rude. They look at customers with very unpleasant eyes. Customers just ask a simple question but they struggle to answer, what a jerk. That is not the usual service in hotels in Japan. It makes my short trip in Tokyo really uncomfortable. The hotel is very far from the subway. I will definitely never come back here again."

"Thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. The beds were comfortable, it is a hard mattress so might not appeal to everyone but I personally thought it was comfortable. Rooms were small and tight as expected, but it was a good use of space. We didn’t use the public onsen as much as I’d like to but it was definitely enjoyable. It’s open until 1am so definitely can make the time to enjoy it. Not to mention the infamous breakfast buffet. Don’t think there’s any hotel breakfast that can beat the unlimited ikura (fish eggs) and blue fin tuna. There was a wide selection of cooked food to choose from, bunch of pickled veggies as well – all food tasted great, but surprisingly I didn’t particularly enjoy the cooked fish. It was slightly overcooked and the fish was dry. They change up the cooked food items every morning so that was nice. Location was great too! Walking distance to a couple of 24 hr food chains and Donki Asakusa so there were things to keep us busy when we woke up at 3am jetlagged. I stayed with my family, 2 young kids and overall a really cozy stay. Definitely coming back."
