"I found the hotel to basic and pleasant, and suitbale for my needs. The room itself is small but adequate. The staff were helpful.\n\nOne thing to beware of ( and the main reason for writing my review ), if booking through Booking.com please be aware of a scam email being sent to customers via Booking.com's own email inbox system in your Book.com Account, claiming to be an email from the hotel asking you to verify your card by a small transaction. It is NOT the hotel in question, nor the fault of the hotel. It is Ukrainian scammers I later learned, pretending to be the hotel.\n\nHotel Shinjuku staff emailed me to warn me, but alas, I had received their genuine email too late, and was scammed out of £200+ . Booking.com were of ZERO help, and kept forwarding my query to the hotel, where in fact, the responsibilty lies with Booking.com since the scammers are utilising and have access to the customer's Booking account. Hotel Shinjuku were aware of this, but Booking.com did not help them either.\n\nI would stay at this hotel again, but I will never use Booking.com again for their appaling service, and their lack of aftercare."

"The hotel is in a narrow alley in Nishi-Shinjuku , around 5 min from the JR stations (Shinokubo/Okubo). Restaurant and shops are just around the corner.\nStaff are very kind, but the hotel is old and renovation is much needed."

"The room was small, which is expected in Tokyo, but the slow Wi-Fi was a disappointment—especially since I wasn’t informed about it until after I checked in. Also, the lack of a bidet in the bathroom was surprising, considering it’s a standard feature in most Japanese hotels. On the positive side, the air conditioning system was flexible, allowing me to switch between cooling and heating as needed. Overall, an average experience with some room for improvement."
