Grand Prince Hotel Shin Takanawa

"The Grand Price hotel Shin Takanawa is a 4 stars hotel. The hotel is very big in the middle of a beautiful green area. In this area there is 2 or 3 other luxurious hotel. There are 2 pools if you have time, a small gym. there are 4 restaurants. I tested the restaurant at the swimming pool, 2 hours free drinks, a Japanese barbecue on your table!! the meat is good, presentation is perfect as it should be in Japan!"

"Hello,\n\nI’m not very happy with this hotel. I booked it with the idea of ending my vacation on a high note — with a swimming pool.\n\nWhen I arrived at the hotel, I found out that, first of all, you have to pay per day to use the pool?!\n\nOn top of that, you’re not even allowed to swim if you have tattoos?!\n\nNone of this is mentioned anywhere on the website?!\n\nOn top of that, the hotel rooms are very outdated and it’s honestly hard to find your way around.\n\nI’m very disappointed — especially considering I paid 900 euros for 5 days.\nI will DEFINITELY not come back here. What a shameful way to end my vacation.\n\nI also pointed out to the staff that none of this was mentioned online. All I got was a “sorry” — that’s it…\n\nAll in all, I’m still trying to make the best of it.\n\nUpdate:\nMy travel companion and I decided to pack our things and go to the pool anyway.\nWe thought, let’s at least give it a try.\n\nOnce we got to the pool, staff immediately approached us to pay.\n\nIt was 6000 yen per person (on weekdays — I think it’s 9000 on weekends),\n3000 yen for a sunbed,\nand 3000 yen for a parasol.\n\nThe terrace chairs are free.\n\nSince I have tattoos, I swam in a long shirt. We didn’t mention anything, and nothing was said about it either — so that was fine.\n\nWe both ended up paying about 36 euros each just for one afternoon of swimming — quite expensive.\nBut because of that, it’s also relatively quiet here.\n\nSo in the end, I can say it worked out.\nBut the staff is very unclear, and you kind of have to “stay quiet” about your tattoos — then it’s fine.\n\nI had also been to the Sky Pool upstairs earlier, and there I was sent away as soon as I mentioned tattoos.\nDownstairs at the Diamond Pool, no one said anything — so apparently it’s somewhat allowed there.\n\nYou’d think that drinks and food at the pool would be included.\nBut no — unfortunately, we paid 6 euros for just two colas.\n\nSo yes, it’s quite an expensive experience — keep that in mind!"

"The hotel was luxurious and the lobby and garden were gorgeous! We had a smooth check in and luggage drop off service, and for the location, we were able to walk from Shinagawa station which was a huge plus! The room had a balcony which overlooked the garden, but other than that the room was mediocre. It was not as luxurious as the rest of the hotel, but they did have comfy beds and lots of room. I do wish the bathroom was more traditional, but it was a tub and shower curtain. Overall, it was very clean and pleasant. I would say the breakfast buffet was delicious! It was about $30 per adult"
