APA Hotel Nihonbashi Hamacho Ekiminami

"This is to give honest review to help out future travelers when deciding about staying in this hotel.\n\nPros\n1. SORROUNDINGS - this is the highlight of this place. It's mostly residential and it brings peaceful vibe. Make yourself some time to stroll around the area and you will see other side of Tokyo. You can sit on the bench while looking onto the river which really gives a relaxing vibe over a chilly May weather.\n2. Room is small but it just fits a solo traveler vibe with river view.\n3. They will ask if you have requests prior to your stay and will try their best to give that\n4. This is a walking distance to Tokyo City Air Terminal (T-CAT). About 15 mins. This made me realize that limousine/airport buses are more convenient as you get to avoid stairs on train stations which is quite a hassle when you have luggages.\n5. Though they only serve same 4 selections of set meals everyday, they serve good breakfast and a nice coffee.\n6. Not cleaned everyday but you can request to make up for your room for the day. They will provide you clean towels everyday.\n\nCons\n1. Quite far from the train stations - if walking isn't a big deal for you like me, a 5-10 minute walk would be fine except when it's raining which is kind of hassle. The nearest train station I suggest is the Hamacho station (Shinjuku line S10)\n2. The place is so quiet that sometimes you feel strange when walking at night like around 10PM. Since this is residential area, you can only get to see these people walking earlier than that time.\n3. No convenient stores around. Nearest is family mart which is a 5-10 minute walk from the hotel. There is one local store but they only have few selection compared to known convenient stores.\n4. No cabinets. You will use the space under your bed to place your luggages and use it to store your clothes. Clothes can be hanged by the wall.\n\nOverall, this is a good place to stay especially If you wish to have a quality "me time"."

"We just had a great two weeks in Tokyo. Three of us in the 10th Floor corner room with the round window, could it be the best view? We thought so. Very nice hotel, with a suprisingly well stocked room. Back in the UK you are lucky to get enough towels. The service was efficient, we were overflowing with coffee, tea, towels etc. The breakfast is worth it, especially if you are out for an explore of the city. We didn't feel hungry till midday. The coin op washer and dryer were great for us, as we were there 2 weeks. Microwave and vending machine handy too. Local area of Chuo City is a nice change from the more manic parts of Tokyo. We used Family Mart a lot, found a nice Tsukamen place and there's a Daiso near there too. Hamacho Park is nice to walk round and relax.Have a wander, the Sumida River walks are nice. We did have 35-36°C heat, so glad the air con worked.\nOverall a lovely hotel, friendly and helpful staff, good location. Being near the main highway didn't bother us as we were higher up. Be prepared to walk a bit to shops, eateries,stations, but that is how you experience the best bits of real Tokyo life.\nThank you."

"This hotel is ridiculous.\n1. The night I arrived I noticed the room was very dusty. I was too tired to call reception so I just took my bath and slept. Then I noticed the pyjamas that was provided is the kimono type but it only had one rope, there was no second rope to tie the robe together..so I had no pyjamas 1st night. Then I noticed the hangers in my room were very dirty and dusty, I had to wash them before hanging my clothes.\n\n2. The next day, room service came to clean the room and I swear I could have done a better job\n\n3. I typically know hotels to clean your rooms every day unless you tell them not to. I stayed for 3 nights. They didn't clean my room on the 3rd day because I didn't put out a "clean room" notice..that's just ridiculous.\n\n4. I know Japanese hotels to be very clean but this hotel was not clean at all, it was full of dust and dirt on the carpets in the hallway.\n\nI did not enjoy my stay at all!!! If the idea was for me not to visit their hotel again, congratulations it worked. I have always wanted to stay at an APA hotel..butbi doubt I would be booking any APA hotel at a different location. I'm worried I would face the same fate."
