Ocean Sun Dive Resort

"I really enjoyed my stay at Ocean Sun. It’s incredibly convenient for diving — being able to return to your room between dives is a real luxury. My dive guide was also excellent, making the whole dive experience even better.\n\nThe hotel is great value for money and it isn’t all that luxurious but it’s a great way to experience diving. The open-air shower in the room is a nice touch, though I was quite aware of mosquitoes and unfortunately got bitten quite a bit despite using repellent consistently. I noticed another guest had a mosquito net over their bed, but my room didn’t, which maybe would have made a difference.\n\nThe coffee in the restaurant was surprisingly superb (among the best I’ve had in Bali) and the food was also decent across the two restaurants (particularly enjoyed Slice and Brew).\n\nI had hoped for a younger, more sociable crowd, but it skewed older during my stay. The diving is also done privately so there wasn’t much natural interaction with other guests. If you’re solo travelling, I’d recommend staying just 1–2 nights. Tulamben is really all about the diving — there’s little else to do.\n\nOverall, if you’re travelling as a couple or in a group and aren’t too fussed about luxury, this hotel is a fantastic choice — great value for money with excellent diving access."

"Lovely Resort!\nThe rooms are generously sized, the showers are hot and the adjoining restaurant is delicious.\nThe owner is a lovely German man, who also offers dive tours through the establishment.\nWe very much enjoyed our stay here ... Except for the mosquitos. Thankfully the room provided mosquito spray and bug spray, but every time the staff cleaned our room it became filled with mosquitos again. However, the rooms were always exceptionally clean! Overall our stay here was great. Bonus points: If you're German, you'll find lots of Germans here!"
