"Awful experience with articulated scam.\n\nFirst they sell you a nice and huge room. Few hours before the arrival they will tell you that the room has been upgraded to a better one.\n\nTurns out the better room is small and dirty without proper shower.\n\nThe new room is listed for 10$ more a night on booking.com, even though is probably worth half of the other ones. In this way they can pretend they are giving you something better, while instead they take a higher fee, upselling a filthy room.\n\nThey are probably overbooking the nice rooms then moving people to the worse one, while trying to convince them they are being given an upgrade because the filthy room is listed for a higher price.\n\nIn this way they are able to sell the filthy rooms for the price of a nice room while making everyone think they are getting an upgrade.\n\nLost two hours explaining the situation to booking, showing picture of what we received compared to what we booked. Thankfully booking understood the scam, gave us full\nrefund and we found a 10x better place for almost half the price just across the street.\n\nDirty and filthy hotel with an arrogant owner and generally a sus place. Scammy vibes, a real dishonor for all the nice and honest greek people."

"The rooms were very comfortable and cozy with plenty of space, great bathrooms and comfortable beds installed with a safe for all your important stuff.\nThe service was pretty good no complaints, the employees were very nice and useful so no problem here.\nThe location isn't the best it's just the center of Athens so you can't expect much but it might also have just been the room I was in."

"On our 30 day trip to Greece we stayed in 8 different hotels, Alter Athens being the very first one, and I can definitively say it was the best and most memorable hotel of our trip.\n\nThe rooms were clean, spacious and stocked with everything we needed. The real highlight of this hotel was the owner, Aristo. He welcomed us with some drinks and made the hotel feel like home. He was always around making sure that we had everything we needed and went above and beyond to meet our requests. He was so charming and kind that upon leaving the hotel, I was compelled to hug him! A tremendous host! I cannot recommend this place enough."
