Golfo di Orosei Coastal Path — Guide with Eco Hotel at the Trailhead

Walk: 12 km · Moderate · 5 hours · Sardinia · Updated June 2026

Golfo di Orosei Sardinia coastal cliffs

The Golfo di Orosei coastal path is one of Sardinia's most spectacular walking routes. The trail connects a series of pristine coves and beaches — Cala Luna, Cala dei Ginepri, Cala Fuili — along the dramatic limestone coastline of central-eastern Sardinia. The unique appeal of this walk lies in its remote character: most of these beaches are only accessible on foot or by boat, preserving their untouched natural beauty. The trail combines rocky cliff-edge sections with descents into hidden coves where the water is impossibly turquoise.

Step-by-Step Walk Guide

1
Start at Cala GononeBegin at the southern end of Cala Gonone's promenade. The trail is marked but look carefully — the path climbs immediately onto the limestone cliff edge. The views of the Golfo di Orosei from above are spectacular from the first kilometre.
2
Walk to Cala Luna (3 km, 1 h)A rocky but manageable trail descends to Cala Luna, instantly recognisable by its long white-sand crescent and the large natural cave at the back of the beach. This is one of Sardinia's most photographed beaches for good reason. Take a swim break here.
3
Continue to Cala dei Ginepri (2 km)The cliff path continues south to Cala dei Ginepri, a smaller, quieter cove shaded by ginepri (juniper) trees. This section involves some rocky scrambling. The reward is a pristine beach that is rarely busy.
4
Complete to Cala Fuili (2 km)The final section to Cala Fuili involves a steep descent into a pebble cove framed by towering limestone walls. After exploring Cala Fuili, either walk back (2 hours) or take a boat taxi from Cala Luna or Cala Fuili back to Cala Gonone.
